Though we have lived in many parts of Spain, and walked through an endless variety of Spanish landscapes, we remain most passionate about Andalucía: an eternal wellspring of intense beauty, festive spirit and cultural richness. No where in the world can you see the collision of three monumental cultures so clearly and to such dramatic effect. The so-called “Golden Age” of Spain roughly corresponds to the dates 711 – 1010. It was a time when Muslims, Jews, and Christians co-existed in relative peace and harmony in the Moorish region of “Al-Andaluz”. This environment of tolerance and collaboration reached its zenith in Cordoba, where scientific advances abounded, prosperity grew and education flourished. The three cultures all contributed to a vital, if ultimately tragic, history that is abundantly evident throughout the tour, whether in a medieval monument or on an ancient herding path. This trip through Sevilla, Granada, Las Alpujarras and Córdoba is our signature Spain tour and the only one that we, the owners, still personally lead each summer. Uniquely mixing city walks and rural routes, it will delight and dazzle all five of your senses and leave you with a deep appreciation for all the wonders that Spain provides.
