There is nothing quite like returning to a luxurious hotel after having spent much of the day out walking. We've selected our charming hotels and villas for their comfort, beauty, central location and ability to pamper our guests. Some examples of what you may look forward to: a private balcony at the edge of a vast mountain valley, a gorgeously restored 17th century townhouse in which every room is a unique work of art, quiet patios surrounded by orange trees, gardens and quaint arabic fountains, and a hotel built into the remains of a Roman temple. No matter where you choose to travel with us, each tour promises surprises and lavish rewards in comfort and luxury.
Like our accommodations, our dining locations are selected for quality, authenticity and ambiance. The cuisine of Spain is a revelation for first-time visitors. Spaniards linger at the table and love to talk, laugh and share stories. We will espouse their unhurried approach while we teach you the art of tapeando, or going out for tapas, in which small plates of food, often ten or eleven at a time, come from the kitchen full of bite-sized morsels: fried eggplant, paella, littleneck clams (with garlic, olive oil and parsley), fresh calamari, mini-filets of beef smothered in whiskey-onion sauce, and locally grown aceitunas (mountain olives). You will have a chance to discover the varied treasures of Spain by ordering a red wine from La Rioja, white Ribeiro from Galicia, or a sherry from Jerez. After dinner, you might indulge in a liqueur: Orujo (the delicious herb aguardiente from the north) or even a brandy.
On each of our tours of Spain we'll take you to our favorite restaurants;
some are in noisy little plazas, complete with frenzied Spanish waiters
and impromptu guitar performances, others are in secluded patios,
serene with the bubbling of small fountains and fragrant from the
delicate scent of honeysuckle vines. Whether it's tapeando,
picnicking in a park, or a 5-course meal, we're certain it will become
for you another eventful way to celebrate the vitality of Spain.
